Necron Group and Siemens Healthineers start collaboration at Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer
With Siemens Healthineers as a strategic partner, Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer (HICB) is taking an important next step in the development of a campus for healthcare innovation, medical technology and specialist care. Siemens Healthineers and Necron Group have signed a collaboration agreement for the first healthcare-driven component on the campus: a centre that brings together diagnostics and specialist care. The centre will be the first of its kind in the Netherlands and is intended to contribute to faster diagnostics, shorter lead times for patients and reduced pressure on healthcare.
Diagnostics closer to the patient
The diagnostic centre is not a standalone project. It is the first healthcare-driven component of Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer. The centre reflects the wider purpose of the campus: connecting healthcare, technology and knowledge, to help bring healthcare innovation into practice more quickly.
The ambition extends further. Both parties want to develop Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer into a place that also attracts additional specialist care providers, knowledge partners and technology companies.
The diagnostic centre will provide an important link between GPs and hospitals. For low-complexity, non-acute care in particular, it can offer patients clarity sooner, for example when symptoms need to be investigated quickly but are not immediately life-threatening. This means patients can be helped faster, lead times can be reduced and fewer people need to be referred to hospital unnecessarily. Hospitals, in turn, gain more capacity to focus on complex and specialist care, helping to ease pressure on waiting lists. In this way, the centre will help maintain high-quality care while keeping healthcare accessible and affordable.
Siemens Healthineers will provide the diagnostic technology and services for the future centre, making the first healthcare-driven component of Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer a reality.
Following the start of construction of the Marriott hotel last April, the collaboration with Siemens Healthineers marks the next visible step in the development of the campus.
Paul Riswick, Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers Netherlands: “Demand for healthcare is rising, while accessibility and affordability are under pressure. That is precisely why collaboration is essential. By connecting our technological expertise to the development of Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer, we are taking a first concrete step towards smarter, more accessible healthcare. The diagnostic centre shows how innovation and collaboration can contribute to faster diagnostics, less pressure on healthcare and more capacity for specialist care.”
Gerard van Liempt, CEO of Necron Group: “Together with Siemens Healthineers, a leading MedTech company, we are taking an important step in the development of Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer. The diagnostic centre is the first healthcare-driven component of the campus and provides the foundation for a broader development that brings together diagnostics, specialist care, knowledge and innovation in this region.”
A strategic boost for the campus and the region
Health Innovation Campus Boxmeer is being developed for organisations in life sciences & health, with collaboration, growth and innovation at its core. The close proximity of healthcare institutions, technology companies and knowledge partners helps accelerate the development and application of new solutions. Boxmeer’s central position between Nijmegen, Oss and Germany was an important factor in the choice of location.
The development of HICB reflects a wider economic shift in the region, with a strong focus on innovation, talent and collaboration. Both the Municipality of Land van Cuijk and the Municipality of Nijmegen are investing in a future-ready economy. Knowledge institutions such as Radboud University and Radboudumc also play an important role in driving innovation and talent development.
With strong connections to Germany and international airports, the campus is attractive to both regional and international organisations.
David Sölez, Alderman for Economic Affairs, Municipality of Land van Cuijk: “With the arrival of Siemens Healthineers, we are taking another step in the further development of the campus. The decision by a leading organisation to choose this location in Boxmeer is a positive signal for the region. It contributes to an attractive business climate and supports the further growth of the campus as a place for entrepreneurship, innovation and employment.”
